Cuespeak is a professional rehabilitation tool designed for individuals facing speech, language, and cognitive challenges post-stroke or brain injury. Developed in the UK, this app is endorsed and employed by the NHS. It boasts a wealth of features such as over 10,000 images, 5,000 videos demonstrating words being spoken and dissected into syllables and sounds, and more than 30,000 spoken prompts.
The product offers fourteen therapy modules that can be personalized to cater to individual needs. These exercises can be amalgamated into a bespoke therapy regimen running automatically at the press of a button. This functionality allows individuals with significant cognitive difficulties to engage in independent practice to supplement their traditional therapy sessions effectively.
Cuespeak sets itself apart by employing a dynamic 'question and facilitated answer' format rather than the conventional 'picture naming' approach. With over 30,000 spoken prompts encompassing questions, error feedback, and cues to stimulate spoken output, Cuespeak aims to emulate the conversational processing demands effectively. New content is regularly updated, including questions related to current events.
While optimized for use with Speech & Language Therapists (SLTs), Cuespeak is user-friendly for independent use. The app allows remote management by clinicians or helpers by sending session updates via the internet. An advanced settings menu enables SLTs to tailor exercises to meet specific linguistic needs. Additionally, the app encompasses a library of video tutorials for guidance through the customization process.
The exercises included cover various areas such as spoken word retrieval and production, sentence construction and comprehension, semantic associations, phonology, articulation, spelling, reading, and more.
Cuespeak aims primarily at UK users by utilizing British English and catering to UK cultural references. However, an option is provided to exclude UK-specific questions.
The base version of Cuespeak is available for free download with sample content included. Full access to content requires a subscription via in-app purchases with options for Monthly, Yearly, or 3-Year plans.
